Employment
Faculty Member [taught law and economics of life insurance and pensions] in the Southern Zonal Training Centre [management training institute] of the Life Insurance Corporation of India 2. Experience of 39 years in Administration, marketing, teaching and guiding research in life insurance & pensions. Extensive experience as Branch Manager and Senior Branch Manager in conventional and P&GS Branches, Manager in Legal, HPF, Actuarial, CRM, SSS, Policy Services Departments and as Chairman of CRM Standing Committee that reviews and decides on customer grievances, death claims repudiations, health insurance claims etc. 3. Lastly, Principal, Divisional Training Centre (under which there were eleven Agents Training Institutes), LIC at Kottayam. Retired in Senior Divisional Manager/Deputy Zonal Manager scale from 1-9-2011

Honoured by the District Administration, Kottayam [Government] “For displaying greatness of spirit in the service of the people” 2.      Conferred the ‘RT Thomas Endowment-Kiranam Man of the Year 2001’ award for “Making life insurance an instrument of social welfare and for doing the best service to society in the state of Kerala during the past five years”. 3.      Conferred the ‘Best Business Academic of the Year 2006 [silver medal]’ by the Indian Commerce Association [all Universities of India]. 4.      Awarded SK Desai Memorial Medal and cash prize [consolation prize] for best research in Insurance in India for his paper “Reverse Underwriting by Prospects of Life Insurance” by Insurance Institute of India in 2009. The prize was given by Sri J.Hari Narayan, IRDA Chairman.
Contribution/recognition in academics 
External Member on the Doctoral Committee [Department of Management] of Indian Institute of Technology Madras during 2003-08. 2. Nominated to the syllabus core committee of Mahatma Gandhi University 3. Provided syllabus for MBA/M.Com degrees [Papers on Life Insurance] to over a dozen Universities, including University of Madras, Kerala, CUSAT, IIT Madras.4. Provided support to Universities & IIT Madras as a faculty, question setter, evaluator etc 5. Guided over a dozen scholars in their research leading to PhD /M.Phil /MBA degrees 6. Designed and organized a training session on life insurance for Professors of Indian Universities in September 2005, with the concurrence of University Grants Commission, India.7. Designed and organized two international sessions and five national sessions of life insurance training [titled Life Insurance Insights] for professors and professionals                                          
Contributions to research
Contributed papers in several annual conferences of Indian Commerce Association.2. Presented an essay on ‘Customer orientation in life insurance’ which won him a nomination to the Third World Insurance Congress in 1992 3. ‘Collaboration amongst SAARC countries in insurance and reinsurance’ made him a prize winner in the 5th International Gold Medal Essay competition held by Quarterly Insurance Journal of Pakistan in 1994 4. Published sixty five articles/papers in various publications, including Journal of the Trivandrum Insurance Institute, Journal of the Insurance Institute of India, Journal of the National Insurance Academy,  Insurance Chronicle- journal of the ICFAI University Press, Journal of Insurance Law, Indian Commerce Journal, Pensions- an International Journal, The Bank Quest (journal of the Indian Institute of Banking and Finance) etc. Author of the largest number of research-papers in life insurance in India. 5. The concept of “Reverse Underwriting” is his contribution to life insurance.6.  Was a reviewer of papers for Mei06 [2nd international symposium on management, engineering and informatics USA 2006] and Moderator for National Symposium of Insurance and Banking organized by Manonmaniam Sundarnar University, Tamil Nadu (2009).7. Developed the course content and material for LIC’s online training material for Agents (first on line study material that received IRDA approval) put on LIC’s Vidyanet web site.8. Developed the question-bank of the Insurance Institute of India for Agents’ examinations.9. Developed the Quality Manual for LIC’s Southern Zonal Training Centre on the basis of which ISO certification was awarded to them, which made SZTC of LIC world’s first insurance training institute to receive IS/ISO: 9001:2000 certification.
