If
you were reading this blog at 4.00 pm today (1st November 2013),
well, you might be the 2000th reader. This blog is an attempt to
educate customers, students and salesmen on the right things in life insurance.
Some readers give me valuable suggestions on topics to be covered and the like.
All such suggestions are taken care of while preparing the posts.
In
spite of all the laws, rules and regulations the industry is becoming more
impersonal. Answering the customer is limited to the questions put on IVRS. I
sent a question to several private sector insurers “Do you allow reinstatement
of surrendered life insurance policies?” All except one did not respond to me.
The one company who responded asked me to give the policy number. I told them
that my question is not policy-specific but a general one. Still they went on
asking for the policy number. After several mails they said “no”. Life
insurance companies expect those questions that suit their ready made “answers”.
They are doing disservice to the life insurance customers.
An
Agent of LIC’s Branch No.2 in Kozhikode has a
unique practice when he comes out of the house of his customer with a first
premium cheque. He stops a while, prays to God to give him opportunity to come
back to him with the maturity claim cheque. In the process he seeks the long
life of his customer and no-lapsation
to his new policy. Let us honour such salesmen, who are truly ‘personal’ in
life insurance.
